Welcome to the Catholic Church of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, Tobermory, Isle of Mull.
Our Lady, Star of the Sea. Tobermory, Isle of Mull
The church is served from St Columba's Cathedral, Oban and our parish priest is Canon Donald Mackay. When no priest is available, the Catholic Community conduct a service of Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion, using the reserved Blessed Sacrament.

We are presently looking for a priest who will say our weekly Mass in Tobermory, either coming from the mainland each visit, or to live on Mull. If that could be you, even for a short time, please contact Cathedral House in Oban and let it be known. ( Tel. 01631 562123 )

Our bishop is the Rt. Rev. Ian Murray of the diocese of Argyll and the Isles.
The Catholic population fluctuates, but there are about forty households in total, with one or more Mass attenders. This involves long journeys for some, but the presence of the Catholic House of Prayer on Iona in 1997 , with priests often staying there, means that Catholics in the Ross of Mull can go to Mass more conveniently.

The church can now be accessed via a paved pathway from Victoria Street, just beside Stone Cottage. Turn right at the end of the path and our church is just a few yards on the right. There are two steps into the church so if you need help, please ask.

Our aims for this site are threefold:

  • to enable good communication between parishioners.
  • to encourage interaction with other Christians on the Island.
  • to offer opportunities for visitors and others to be involved
